The President and CEO of West Houston Association, Augustus “Auggie” Campbell, announced his resignation in a letter to members on March 24, 2020 after discussing a transition plan with WHA Executive Board members and staff.
“I am sure that WHA’s best days are ahead,” Auggie Campbell wrote in his letter, including his acceptance of an Executive Director position at the Association of Water Board Directors of Texas. The letter to members was entitled “Thanks for Four Great Years”.
The West Houston Association will be in search of a new CEO and hopes to fill the position in the upcoming weeks.
Here is the letter addressed to members:
Good morning,
I have been very fortunate during the last four years. Working for you as the President and CEO of the West Houston Association has been the highlight of my career. WHA has a fantastic mission, fantastic leadership, fantastic staff, and fantastic members, which will all remain after I leave.
The Association of Water BoardDirectors of Texas has offered me its Executive Director position, and I have accepted. This is a growth opportunity for me and a growth opportunity for the West Houston Association. AWBD has given me time to make a transition in a manner that keeps WHA strong.
WHA’s strength has been and will always be its members. Thank you all for teaching me so much and volunteering to help our region so effectively. We have made significant differences on issues ranging from transportation and flood control to education and sustainability. WHA is fortunate to have a talented team of professionals. Both Jennifer and Lawanda are capable and prepared to carry WHA forward.
A new CEO can bring WHA fresh ideas and connections that build on our institutional infrastructure and provide a new path in this uncertain time. I am sure that WHA’s best days are ahead, and I am grateful to be part of WHA.
