On April 10th, 2019 the West Houston Association had the honor of awarding Larry Johnson, of Johnson Development Corporation, with the 6th ever IMPACT Award.
The ceremony was held as a luncheon at the Westin in Memorial City where we were joined by three of Larry’s long time friends and business associates who gave their remarks on Mr. Johnson and his distiguished career.
First to speak was Walt Mischer Jr. who spoke briefly about how the work that Mr. Johnson has done throughout the years inspired him to look at his own and strive to create a product that would stand along side the quality of work that Johnson Development displays.
After lunch was served, we were joined on stage by Dick Rogers. Mr. Rogers was introduced by his fraternity brother and our immediate past president John Moody. Once Mr. Rogers took the podium we learned that Mr. Rogers and Mr. Johnson met 51 years ago at Mortgage & Trust when Mr. Johnson took a meeting with Carol Wallace, a contributing member to WHA. The crowd was also told stories of Mr. Johnson’s upbringing and his much awarded successes, with much of the credit going to his wife Suzie.
Lastly, the crowd had the honor of hearing Fort Bend County Judge Bob Hebert who spoke briefly on Mr. Johnson and his successes. Judge Hebert recalled a time where he and Mr. Johnson took thier families to the Golf Masters and how he and Mr. Johnson had been great friends for long enough to see how he is approaching the title as the most awarded Land Developer in the country.
It was an honor to host Mr. Johnson and his family for the IMPACT award and as many shared and Joe B. Allen said best, “Larry Johnson has a lot more impact to come.”
