Parks & Recreation in 2060
We have just published our West Houston 2060 Plan and in it we tackle some of the challenges and opportunities the region may face when reaching the year 2060. Below is the committee’s event board which gives an overview of the plan section, but click the title above to view the entire committee section and for a complete version of the 2060 plan.
WITH A TRADITION OF QUALITY GROWTH, GREATER WEST HOUSTON IS WELL PREPARED TO MEET THE CHALLENGE OF BALANCING GROWTH AND CONSERVATION & OPEN SPACE.
Regional amenities in GWH such as conservation and open spaces provide a premium to the quality of living and amplify neighborhood level amenities. Regional conservation and open space areas have a cost component but also provide a significant economic benefit in addition to their contribution to the sustainability of our region’s environment.
The identification and development of regional conservation areas and open spaces is progressing with several governments and organizations working to make individual projects a reality long before mid-century. Regional connectivity of hike and bike trails is a priority and will allow access across the 1,000 square mile GWH.
