On Tuesday, September 11th the West Campus of Texas Children’s Hospital opened the doors to their new Urgent Care clinic. This is the 12th urgent care clinic for TCH and the second located in proximity to one of their hospitals. This facility is 4,250 square feet and is right next door to the TCH’s West Campus Emergency Center that way it can serve the “‘low-acuity’ patient population” as well as West Houston area families.
With 11 exam rooms, an x-ray room, a team of nurses, clinical support staff, board certified pediatricians and advanced pediatric practice providers this facility will be a quicker less expensive option for those low acuity patients.
As Sara Montenegro, assistant Vice President of the West Campus, said, “A strong collaboration between this Urgent Care and the Emergency Center is going to be critical.”
Patients can be seen at this facility either through walk-in style appointments or through transfer from the adjacent Emergency Center. Walk-in patients can utilize the “Save My Spot” feature which has real wait-time updates and allows patients and families to reserve their spots at the clinic wherever they may be and arrive with their spot reserved when they walk in. The Urgent Care is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. all seven days of the week.
Director of Business Operations for the Urgent Care, Roula Zoghbi Smith, says “Our mantra is to ensure that patients are getting the right care, at the right place at the right time, and with us specifically at the right cost.”
