In January 2017, the board of Katy ISD approved a charter for a Community Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) that will be developing and providing a proposed 2017 bond referendum for the Board’s consideration. According to Katy ISD, the bond package has to be community driven to effectively meet the needs of students and families. As more than 2,000 new students are projected to make Katy and the school district their home each year, Katy ISD hopes that the committee will be exploring the campus and facility needs, and will be developing a bond referendum proposal that addresses the continued growth in student enrollment.
The purpose of the 2017 CBAC is to review the need for capital projects, timelines, and costs. The committee counsels and provides input to the administration and presents findings and a bond recommendation to the Board of Trustees for their consideration. The objective of the committee is to develop a school facility referendum recommendation for presentation to the Katy ISD Board of Trustees and ultimately to the Katy ISD community.
