West Houston Association Names
Perri D’Armond as New President, CEO

Houston, TX (Nov. 5, 2013) — The West Houston Association is welcoming Perri D’Armond as its new president and chief executive officer following the retirement of long-time organization head Roger Hord.

D’Armond begins her new position Nov. 11. Prior to joining the West Houston Association, she was vice president of government relations for the Greater Fort Bend Economic Development Council, a position she’s held since 1998. In that role, she monitored and planned for regional issues including mobility, education, air quality and other environmental issues. As part of her job with the economic development council, D’Armond also formed strategic partnerships with many Fort Bend stakeholders, including the West Houston Association.

“Perri is more than able to steer the West Houston Association through the exponential growth we anticipate for the area in the coming years,” said Peter Houghton, chairman of the association. “There is tremendous potential in West Houston, with great jobs, great schools and great communities, and still more to develop.”

“Perri brings to her new position a wealth of experience in the policy and project areas that are most critical for the association and greater West Houston,” Hord said. “She will provide excellent leadership for the organization as it moves forward.”

A resident of the West Houston area, D’Armond says she is looking forward to having a positive impact in her own backyard.

“Being able to do what I love and do it in my own neighborhood is very appealing,” she said. “I have known Roger a long time and have always considered the West Houston Association an example of how an organization can have a positive and lasting impact on the community,” she said. “They have done a remarkable job and I want to continue to build on that.”

D’Armond is an eight-year member of the Houston-Galveston Area Council technical advisory committee and is a committee member and recent vice chair of the council’s transportation air quality committee. She is a board member of the Alliance for I-69 Texas, the Texas Good Roads/Transportation Alliance and the Fort Bend Regional P-16 Council. D’Armond also is a member of the advisory board for the West Fort Bend Management District and a steering committee member of the US 90A Access Management Study. She is an alternative board member of the Highway 36A Coalition and has held leadership positions for various charitable events. She holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Texas A&M University.

Hord has been president and CEO of the West Houston Association since 1999. He announced his pending retirement earlier this year.
